Over the years my work with the under 16s has shown me just what a difference fitness and physical wellbeing can make to children and teenagers.
My programmes build confidence and help children develop both physically and mentally, giving young clients a sense of wellbeing and self-belief that so many kids seem to lack these days.
Who are the under 16’s programmes for?
Everyone! My young clients come with a huge range of completely individual needs and goals.
Is your child active and physically motivated? Do they have more energy that they know what to do with?
Are ordinary sports just not enough?
Or do they not enjoy sport at all?
Do they have a particular need, such as rehab after injury?
Are their hobbies not quite challenging enough? Or don’t they seem to have any hobbies at all?
Whatever the starting point, these under-16’ssessions can be the next step into expanding their young minds and bodies and developing a whole new fitness focus in their lives.
How does it work?
By understanding a young client’s interests and natural abilities, and really getting to know what makes a young person tick I aim to create anindividually tailored programme for each and every under-16 I work with. The needs of a young athlete are very different from those of an adult. Bodies and minds are still developing, and therefore understanding their needs and motivations is crucial to creating a programme that will work for them. That’s why I start by assessing a young client in depth and detail, discussing lifestyle with them, their goals and their concerns, putting them in control of their own mind and body.
The assessment covers everything – nutrition, lifestyle, fitness, experience of sport and exercise (good or bad), and goals. There are many talented youngsters with the potential to go on to be professional athletes and for these young people I design a programme to help them reach their challenging goal of competing at a professional level. For other youngsters the focus is simply on helping them become what they want to become in their lives and careers.
The best for our children
As parents, all each of us wants is the best for our children. Some children just need that little bit extra to channel their energy and encourage their development and maybe give them that little extra push forward in life. My individual style of traininghelps young people grow in confidence and self-belief, to build the physical and mental strength to deal with life’s challenges, and most importantly of all, to feel happy about themselves.
And, finally, we all know being a kid is tough sometimes. My training programmes are fun. Kids have a great time, and learn skills and an approach to life that they will let them carry on keeping fit and having fun even when they are adults.
